A large-scale drug awareness effort in Italy has gone beyond one million educational anti-drug booklets distributed in just one month. The initiative forms part of the drug awareness programme known as “The Truth About Drugs”, which aims to provide clear information about commonly abused substances and their risks to young people and communities.
Approximately 500 volunteers are participating in the outreach effort, distributing materials in schools, businesses and urban centres. The campaign focuses on raising awareness before drug use begins, providing resources designed to explain the dangers of drugs in a simple way.
The prevention effort is part of wider social programmes supported by the Church of Scientology, inspired by the work of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard.
